Neil Cavuto of Fox News directly questioned Chris Christie on Thursday after the former New Jersey Republican Governor received a barrage of negative crowd responses during the first debate the night prior. Cavuto asked if Christie sensed that he had no chance of earning the GOP nomination after such overwhelming rejection from his party.
Christie brushed off the boos and pointed to his latest poll numbers in New Hampsire to offer proof that he could still earn the nomination. However, Christie did not address that those same polls showed that he was still 20 points behind Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the GOP nomination.
At the debate, Christie was booed from the moment he was introduced and later had to be defended by debate moderator Bret Baier in order to continue speaking over the incessant heckling. This atmosphere did not bode well for Christie’s chances of ever earning the Republican candidacy.
During the debate, Christie also faced boos when he explained why he would not support President Donald Trump if he were to be convicted. This did not sit well with the crowd and could be perceived as a sign that Christie was lacking the support he needs in order to even have a chance of winning the nomination.
Adding to his woes, Cavuto’s questioning did not seem to give Christie much hope either. Cavuto asked Christie plainly if he felt that he had no chance at the nomination, to which the governor had no concrete definitive answer. It seems that Christie may be in a very unfavorable position when it comes to his bid for the GOP ticket.
You may not agree, but from where I’m sitting, Christie seems somehow less appealing than Kamala Harris. She’s always done terribly in the polls, but Christie’s own voters can’t stand him. Just like Harris, no one wants to see Christie in the White House. He’s delusional.
