Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House Press Secretary, certainly showed her ineptitude in the face of Fox News’ Peter Doocy, who returned to the White House Briefing Room after paternity leave, guns blazing. With pleasantries between the two aside, Doocy quickly got to work on pressing Jean-Pierre on the Biden family’s alleged corruption and a recent federal bureaucrat attempt at encroaching on Americans’ lives.
After Doocy inquired whether President Biden wanted to limit citizens to two beers a week, Jean-Pierre exclaimed “Where is this coming from? Maybe I did — maybe I didn’t miss you so much.” Doocy inform her that his source was the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism’s director, Dr. George Koob. The moment demonstrated Jean-Pierre’s confusion and overthrow as she simply suggested that “experts” should be consulted on the topic, failing to deliver an answer from Biden’s viewpoint.
Doocy continued by asking about the Secret Service’s $16,000 a month payment for staging near Hunter Biden in Malibu. When Jean-Pierre evaded the question, Doocy pushed back and asked for assurance that people wouldn’t be buying Hunter’s art to “gain favor with the President”. Jean-Pierre replied that it was a question for Hunter Biden and his representatives then went on to account his testimony that he, along with Hunter Biden, had been selling the appearance of access to then-Vice President Biden, all while the White House can’t guarantee there’s “no quid pro quo”.
Despite Doocy’s fighting prowess, Jean-Pierre got back in control with the help of VOA’s Anita Powell softball question. Powell asked Jean-Pierre about the millions of girls in Afghanistan who were barred from going to school by the Taliban and after two long pauses, Jean-Pierre answered with a pitifully feeble response, simply claiming that Biden “has always been very clear about the importance of girls”.
Yeah… right.
Doocy posed a number of well-structured questions but Jean-Pierre’s lack of answers showed that the White House has nothing to say on the matters and chooses to avoid accountability at all cost. This exchange between him and Jean-Pierre demonstrated the White House’s refusal to take ownership of the issues at hand and left us with the understand that Biden may not be as ethical as they make him out to be.
