New Yorkers are facing an overwhelming issue due to the decisions of Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas. No one could have predicted the chaos and drastic consequences caused by their careless choices that the citizens of the Big Apple must now endure.
Mayor Eric Adams is attempting to tackle this humanitarian crisis, as best he can, but there are still far too many South Americans arriving with no end in sight. The city has already paid for many hotel rooms, yet the homeless population in New York has no place to go. Adams is faced with the difficult task of finding solutions to this problem without compromising the safety of his constituents.
His first solution is to provide migrant families shelter in houses of worship, which is admirable, but he is in search of more tangible results. He recently held a press conference to introduce his “adopt a migrant” program. An idea that he hopes will provide the migrants with the opportunity to earn their keep.
Adams proposed that individuals looking for cheap domestic help should consider taking on asylum seekers. “There are residents who are suffering right now because of economic challenges. They have spare rooms.” The mayor suggested those with the room could receive federal aid, as an incentive to help out the migrants in need.
Many conservatives would be against Adams’ idea as it goes against their ideologies. But regardless of their opinion, the mayor is making an effort to find an efficient way to solve a serious issue. The United States shouldn’t be in this situation in the first place, having to rely on the mayor’s often revolutionary concepts.
Border issues are supposed to be handled by the White House. It is their one true job to deal with foreign issues but not this White House.
As it stands, there are currently over forty-six thousand asylum-seekers housed in the city. The running tab of this unnecessary situation is nearly $4.3 billion and it is still increasing. Money that would be better utilized and could’ve gone directly to the pockets of those in need.
Eric Adams suggests housing illegal migrants in private residences in New York:

Adams urges the government to look for solutions as quickly as possible since it has been neglected for so long. He said, “It’s unfair and it’s not right that New York is going through this.” Indeed it’s true, and so it is up to the city to find a way to provide a safe and fair place for the migrants. All in all, Mayor Adams has proposed a win-win innovative solution, despite the current circumstances.
