CT Man Charged With Killing Homeless Man, Eating His Brain and Eyes Released DECADES Early

Tyree Smith, who was institutionalized for ten years for the decapitation and cannibalization of a homeless man, has been inexplicably released early by authorities in Connecticut. Despite his heinous and disturbing acts, Smith has been deemed fit for reintegration into society by the state’s Psychiatric Security Review Board.

According to the Connecticut Post, Smith’s chilling confession to his cousin in 2013 included details of the brutal murder and his desire to continue cannibalizing more victims. This is just one example of the consequences of lax laws and policies in Democrat-run states, which prioritize the rights of the accused over the safety and well-being of their communities.

During his trial in 2013, Smith’s cousin described seeing him with blood on his pants and carrying chopsticks and a bloody axe. She testified that Smith had talked about Greek gods and his desire to obtain blood, clearly displaying a dangerous and disturbing mindset. Yet, despite the overwhelming evidence and a confession from Smith himself, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity and sentenced to just 60 years in a psychiatric hospital.

It is outrageous that Smith, who admitted to brutally murdering and consuming a human being, was not given a harsher punishment. This is just one example of the leniency shown by Democrat-run states towards criminals. It is clear that their priority is protecting the rights of the accused, rather than seeking justice for the victims and their families.

During his time in the psychiatric hospital, Smith reportedly exhibited a stable mental state, showing compliance with medication and actively participating in treatment. This may seem like grounds for release, but it is important to remember the chilling details of Smith’s crime. He not only brutally murdered a man, but also cannibalized his brain and eyes, all while under the influence of alcohol. This is not the behavior of a rehabilitated individual.

Despite the board’s recommendation that Smith should not associate with individuals linked to criminal activities, it is concerning that he is now living in a group home where he will have limited supervision. How can we trust that he will not act on his cravings if they arise again? It is clear that more stringent measures should have been taken to ensure the safety of the community.

According to the report, Smith has denied experiencing any cravings for human flesh, but he did admit that if they were to arise, he would reach out to his hospital and community supports and providers. But can we really trust that he will do so? And even if he does, this does not guarantee that he will not act on his impulses and harm others.

It is clear that Democrat-run states have failed the victims and their families by their leniency towards criminals like Smith. It is unacceptable that someone who has committed such a despicable act is now walking free in our communities. We must demand stricter laws and punishments for criminals, especially those who have shown such blatant disregard for human life. Our priority should always be the safety and well-being of our society, not the “rehabilitation” of disturbed individuals.
