Convicted Prostitute Caught Serving on School Committee, Guess Her Role

A Texas school district is facing considerable scrutiny in the wake of allowing Ashley Ketcherside, a convicted prostitute, to serve on its school advisory committees. Not only that, while currently serving, she was marketing herself as an online escort.

Kayla Lain, a Godley ISD school board trustee, was taken aback by the discovery stating, “We had no idea what was going on in her personal life. She was always very friendly and personable.”

Godley Independent School District, which is located southwest of Dallas-Fort Worth, recently made the decision to part with Ketcherside from the numerous committees on which she served. The 38-year-old was actively participating in the sexual education committee, the Community Engagement Committee, the Parent Teacher Organization, Godley Athletic Booster Club, and a local cheerleading group.

The one parent who raised questions about Ketcherside’s extracurricular activities was surprised to learn that she had two convictions for prostitution—once in 2012 and once in 2016. Further investigating led them to uncover an email address for the woman which ultimately directed them to an active escort page.

The discovery has angered many, including parents of Godley children. According to reports, the former convict used the pseudonym “Lola Brea” on the vice-ridden website and was active on it within the month prior to her termination. Even more concerning, reviews on the site date back a decade.

Police are not investigating Ketcherside for any crimes, but some still wonder how she was permitted to be a part of the school committee when she had a criminal past. It turns out that her background check did not raise any red flags initially.

One parent from the district said, “It’s concerning to think that someone who isn’t living a wholesome lifestyle is defining what our kids should be learning about sex education. It’s not only wrong, it’s entirely irresponsible.”

It appears the district will be reassessing the way in which they research and vet candidates for their committees in the aftermath of this unfortunate situation. Yet many are left to contemplate how it was allowed to occur in the first place.
