Political corruption has been rampant in the United State’s government for far too long. Recently, a shocking revelation regarding the House panel examining the Capitol incursion has been made; all of the videotapes of the deposition have gone missing.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., chairman of the House Administration oversight subcommittee, confirmed this news when he stated, ““All of the videotapes of all depositions are gone.” He added, “We found out about this early in the investigation when I received a call from someone who was looking for some information off one of the videotapes, and we started searching, and we had none.” The significance of this is that it is now impossible to determine if the transcripts that remain are accurate.

This is particularly concerning due to the accusations made by Cassidy Hutchinson against former President Donald Trump. She originally testified against Trump in February 2022, but then revised her testimony months later. According to the Tennessee Star, she “withheld information about events that [she] had witnessed or that had been recounted to me by witnesses.”
The changes she made were even more concerning as an anecdote was added regarding Trump attempting to take control of the presidential vehicle when its driver would not take him to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. However, Trump has denied all claims.
In addition, Rep. Loudermilk revealed that the panel sent some transcripts to the White House and the Department of Homeland Security and that they were then returned with so many redactions that House Republicans don’t even know what was said or who said it.
The mysterious vanishing of the video is extremely suspicious and leads to more questions about what really happened during the Capitol Hill riots and the political corruption of our government. It gives the impression that those in power do not want the truth to be revealed. This is not only a breach of House rules but a breach of the trust of the American people. As former President Theodore Roosevelt said, “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
