In September, Adams announced a 5% budget cut across city programs and services due to the overwhelming migrant crisis. As the number of migrants continues to rise, Adams predicts that the impact will only become more visible and have a negative impact on the city’s infrastructure and services.
Adams stressed, “There are a lot of things that are feeding off of the migrant policy that, as I said a few months ago, we’re going to start seeing the physical aspects of this crisis.” The Mayor warned that New Yorkers may soon witness the direct impact of this crisis on their daily lives. The city has managed to keep this crisis under control so far, but Adams believes that the “dam has burst” and the consequences will become much more evident.
