A Disney World mechanic has been arrested on horrific sex crime charges, adding to a disturbing trend of Disney employees engaging in child pornography.
Michael David Foster, an overnight mechanic at Disney World in Orlando, was investigated after authorities received information about his possible possession of child pornography. According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Foster was caught with “32 images of child pornography” on a flash drive found in his book bag.
This is not the first time that a Disney employee has been linked to child pornography. Just earlier this year, Disney World cast member Paul Viel was arrested along with seven others for possession and distribution of child pornography. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office described the content as “the most horrific” their detectives had ever seen, involving the exploitation and abuse of children.
The problem of child sex crimes within Disney does not seem to be isolated. In September 2022, IT support specialist Kevin Sanders was arrested as part of an undercover operation aimed at catching child predators. Sanders had engaged in explicit online conversations with an undercover detective posing as a 13-year-old girl and was charged with soliciting a child for sex and transmitting harmful material.
These incidents raise questions about the safety and screening processes of Disney employees. How many more predators could be working within the magical world of Disney? The fact that these individuals were able to access and distribute child porn while working for this family-friendly company is deeply concerning.
Furthermore, this is not the first time Disney has faced controversy surrounding their employees. In 2019, a Disney World cast member was accused of trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl. And in 2018, a security guard at Disney World was arrested for trying to lure a 13-year-old girl for sexual acts.
These troubling incidents suggest a larger issue within the culture at Disney. With such a large number of employees, it is concerning that there have been multiple cases of child sex crimes. As one person commented on the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post about Foster, “Disney seems to be hiring predators.”
Disney World is supposed to be a place of magic and wonder for families, but these horrific crimes paint a different picture. The safety and welfare of children should be a top priority for a company that caters to families. Yet, the evidence suggests that more needs to be done to ensure that Disney employees are vetted and monitored carefully.
In response to these incidents, some have called for stricter background checks and monitoring of employees at Disney. As one commenter stated, “Disney needs to implement more thorough background checks, especially for those working directly with children. Parents should feel safe leaving their children in the care of Disney employees.”
The fact that these individuals were able to work for Disney and potentially interact with children is alarming. Disney must take responsibility and take action to prevent these incidents from happening in the future. After all, as stated by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, “These are real children being harmed by these criminals… Disney included.”
"These men have a menagerie of occupations to include a Disney employee. It is a stark reminder of the importance of awareness when it comes to your kids online activities." – Sheriff Grady Judd

It is clear that Disney has a responsibility to protect children and uphold their family-friendly image. The company must take immediate action to prevent the hiring of predators and ensure the safety of its guests, particularly children.
