On Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Lieutenant Gov. Dan Patrick of Texas called out President Joe Biden for his handling of the border crisis, telling him to “get out” of the way and not to “mess with Texas.”
When asked about how Texas plans to work with Border Patrol and other state National Guard members, Patrick emphasized the large distance that needs to be covered. He also pointed out that Texas is already doing its job in protecting the border, and called on Biden to let them do their job without interference.
Patrick also noted that Border Patrol and Texas officials are already working together closely, and accused Biden of turning the issue into a political battle.
The lieutenant governor then went on to say that Texas does not need help from the federal government, and that it is Biden who is trying to create conflicts between the state and federal authorities.
He further reinforced the state’s determination to protect its borders, stating that they will not back down to any interference from Biden. He also reminded viewers that the Supreme Court recently ruled in favor of the Department of Homeland Security, allowing them to remove razor wire barriers put in place by Texas officials to slow down illegal border crossings.
However, Texas officials have refused to comply with the court’s decision, citing the need to protect their state and its laws. Despite calls from Democrats to federalize the National Guard, several GOP governors have expressed their support for Texas’ actions.
Governor Greg Abbott also released a statement asserting Texas’ “constitutional right to self-defense.” And, according to reports, some Border Patrol agents have quietly supported the state’s move to take control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas.
The ongoing battle between the state and the federal government over the border crisis continues to escalate, with Texas officials refusing to back down and Biden facing criticism for his lack of action.
It is clear that Biden’s policies have only made the situation worse, and his attempts to interfere with Texas’ efforts to protect its borders have only fueled tensions. His failure to effectively address the crisis is a threat to the safety and security of both Texas and the entire country.
Instead of causing further divisions and politicizing the issue, Biden should listen to the concerns of Texas and other border states and work with them to find a solution. It is time for him to stop “messing with Texas” and let them do their job of protecting their borders and citizens.
