CNN Called Out for ‘Shameful’ Way It Protected Baked Potato Joe During SOTU

The political ad that conservative nonprofit Building America’s Future attempted to air during CNN’s State of the Union coverage on Thursday has sparked controversy and criticism towards the network. The ad, which highlighted the tragic death of Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student killed by an illegal immigrant, directly attacked President Joe Biden’s policies on deportation and sanctuary cities. However, CNN refused to air the ad, stating that it did not meet their standards and had “unsubstantiated” claims. This decision has raised accusations of the network trying to protect Biden by censoring the ad.

Building America’s Future advisor Phil Cox called out CNN for rejecting the ad, saying, “It is shameful that CNN is censoring the truth and trying to protect President Biden by refusing to air this ad.” Cox also stated that the American people understand that Biden’s open borders agenda may have played a role in the death of Laken Riley, and that CNN is trying to hide this fact from the public. The rejection of the ad by CNN has further sparked backlash against the network’s perceived bias towards the Biden administration.

Biden has been attempting to downplay the impact of Riley’s death on the nation, and during his State of the Union on Thursday, the president mistakenly called her “Lincoln Riley” instead of her correct name. This mistake was called out by Laken Riley’s mother, Allyson Phillips, who wrote on Facebook that Biden does not even know her daughter’s name and it is pathetic. Instead of apologizing for the error, Biden only issued a statement apologizing for “mislabeling” the alleged murderer, preferring to use the term “undocumented” instead of “illegal immigrant.”

Now, CNN’s decision to censor the ad criticizing Biden’s policies has drawn even more attention to the network’s perceived bias. Building America’s Future posted the ad on X, with a statement saying, “This is the ad featuring Laken Riley’s story that Joe Biden and CNN don’t want you to see. They still refuse to #SAYHERNAME.” The fact that the ad was even aired on MSNBC, another partisan media outlet, only highlights the growing polarization and lack of trust in mainstream media outlets.

CNN’s decision to reject the ad has been viewed as another instance of the network favoring the Biden administration and trying to protect him from criticism. Cox stated that CNN and Biden are in “lockstep once again,” implying that the network is acting as a virtual media outlet for the White House. This raises concerns about the media’s role in keeping politicians accountable and how networks’ biases can have a significant impact on the information that is shared with the public.

This controversy surrounding CNN’s refusal to air the ad criticizing Biden’s policies has only added to the growing distrust towards mainstream media outlets. In an era where accurate and unbiased information is crucial, CNN’s actions only fuel the growing divide
