In a fiery exchange on Fox News, Martha MacCallum dismantled Democrat Senator Chris Coons’ desperate attempts to deflect from a bombshell report exposing rampant waste and fraud in the Social Security Administration. The heated debate laid bare the Left’s refusal to acknowledge government incompetence—and their blind loyalty to a system barreling toward insolvency.
When MacCallum confronted Coons with damning evidence from whistleblowers and oversight reports, the senator resorted to the typical liberal playbook: denial, deflection, and outright dismissal of facts.
Sen. Coons:
“Martha, not only do I not believe some of what was just shared there, but the Trump administration’s acting administrator of Social Security has said that less than one-tenth of one percent of the payments put out by the Social Security Administration are fraudulent or in error.”
Yet, MacCallum wasn’t buying his spin. She pressed him on why the Biden administration has done nothing to address the looming crisis—especially when independent audits reveal systemic mismanagement.
Martha MacCallum:
“Sir, you sound like you’re pretty okay with all the agencies and how they function. You say all those millions of people depend on Social Security, so you don’t care about the ones that are going to never get it because it’s going to be insolvent in 10 years. What have Democrats done? What did Joe Biden’s administration do to find the waste, fraud, and abuse in Social Security to try to shore up this important agency?”
Instead of answering, Coons bizarrely pivoted to attacking Elon Musk, accusing him of undermining trust in government—a clear distraction from Biden’s failures.
Sen. Coons:
“If Elon Musk says that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme, and this president has fired the relevant Inspectors General—who are the people most capable—not a bunch of 20-year-old software engineers with no previous government experience…”
MacCallum fired back, exposing Coons’ hypocrisy:
Martha MacCallum:
“They are most capable. These people—did you watch this interview, Senator? Did you watch the interview? Did you watch this? Did you watch the interview?”
Coons’ response? A weak attempt to shut her down:
Sen. Coons:
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. You are yelling too much.”
But MacCallum wasn’t backing down—because the American people deserve answers. While Democrats bury their heads in the sand, President Trump has consistently called for accountability, demanding an end to wasteful spending and fraud. Unlike Biden, who fires inspectors general who expose corruption, Trump took action to protect taxpayers.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) confirms what conservatives have warned for years: the federal government loses up to $521 billion annually to fraud. Yet Democrats like Coons would rather attack critics than fix the problem.
