Watch: Leavitt Shuts Down Reporter’s Absurd Flood Warning Timing Question

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt faced yet another absurd line of questioning from the liberal media on Monday, this time from Hearst Television’s Kalyn Norwood, who seemed baffled by the simple fact that natural disasters don’t operate on a convenient schedule. Norwood pressed Leavitt on why Texas flood alerts were sent “while people were likely sleeping,” as if the Biden administration could control the timing of a catastrophic weather event.

Leavitt, maintaining her composure, delivered a firm rebuttal: “Well, the alerts were imminently sent out before the flood when people were sleeping because the flood hit in the very early hours of the morning. So, people were sleeping in the middle of the night when this flood came. That was an act of God, that was not the administration’s fault that the flood hit when it did.”

The press secretary meticulously outlined the timeline of warnings issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), demonstrating that federal agencies had acted responsibly. “There were early and consistent warnings… On July 2, there were initial notices of potential weather and flooding risks issued. On July 3, escalated notices were issued throughout the day with a flood watch issued at 1:18 p.m., and then later, at 6:10 p.m., the Weather Prediction Center warned of excessive rainfall in a high likelihood of flash flooding,” Leavitt explained. Additional alerts were sent as late as 6:22 p.m., with flash flood warnings continuing into the early morning hours before disaster struck around 4 a.m. Friday.

Yet, instead of acknowledging the administration’s swift response, the liberal media seized the opportunity to manufacture outrage, as if President Trump should have personally woken every Texan by phone. This is the same media that remained silent for years as Biden’s FEMA bungled disaster responses, leaving Americans stranded.

The tragedy at Camp Mystic in Kerrville, where 27 young campers lost their lives, has been weaponized by the left to push their narrative of government incompetence. But the facts tell a different story. The camp itself confirmed in a statement: “Camp Mystic is grieving the loss of 27 campers and counselors following the catastrophic flooding on the Guadalupe River. Our hearts are broken alongside our families that are enduring this unimaginable tragedy… We have been in communication with local and state authorities who are tirelessly deploying extensive resources to search for our missing girls.”

Meanwhile, President Trump, demonstrating true leadership, swiftly signed a disaster declaration on Sunday to mobilize federal aid. He is set to visit the devastated areas on Friday—unlike past presidents who delayed action or offered empty condolences.
