During a segment, Giridharadas downplayed the very real crime crisis plaguing Washington, DC, instead claiming he’s more afraid of climate change, losing his vote, and other progressive boogeymen than becoming a victim of violent crime in the nation’s capital. His dismissive attitude toward crime—while pushing apocalyptic climate rhetoric—perfectly encapsulates the liberal media’s detachment from reality.
Giridharadas admitted that crime is “real” but quickly dismissed it as “blown out of proportion,” arguing that people “feel much more unsafe than they statistically are.” This is the same condescending tactic Democrats have used for years—lecturing Americans about how they should feel rather than addressing their legitimate concerns. Worse, he accused former President Donald Trump of exploiting crime for “authoritarian purposes,” a laughable claim given the Biden administration’s relentless attacks on free speech, due process, and political dissent.
But Giridharadas wasn’t done. In a stunning display of elitist priorities, he declared:
“When I go to D.C., I’m not afraid of losing my wallet so much as I’m afraid of losing my vote. I’m not afraid of losing my wallet so much as I’m afraid that my children’s freedom to breathe will be stolen in a world where climate change policy is nonexistent.”
This is the same fearmongering that has driven the left’s radical climate agenda—one that stifles economic growth, destroys energy independence, and imposes crippling regulations on American families. Meanwhile, violent crime surges in Democrat-run cities like DC, where carjackings, robberies, and homicides have become routine. Yet MSNBC would rather obsess over hypothetical climate disasters than hold the Biden administration accountable for its failure to keep streets safe.

Giridharadas also took a cheap shot at Trump, bizarrely claiming that January 6 was DC’s “one really big crime problem” while ignoring the daily lawlessness enabled by soft-on-crime progressive policies. The hypocrisy is staggering. The left spent years dismissing concerns about rising crime, defunding police, and releasing violent offenders—only to now pretend they care about “safety” while pushing their usual far-left agenda.
This is why Americans increasingly distrust the mainstream media. Outlets like MSNBC don’t report the news—they spin it to fit their ideological narrative, dismissing real problems while amplifying divisive, partisan talking points. Meanwhile, President Trump continues to champion law and order, border security, and economic prosperity—policies that actually address the concerns of everyday Americans, not coastal elites like Giridharadas.
