Shocking Video: Student Hit By Car at Protest

Chaos on a Fremont street. A female student was struck by a car during an anti-ICE protest at Fremont High School in Fremont, Nebraska.

Video shows the student running into the road while holding a sign. A car with a Trump flag approaches. The driver accelerates a few feet and the student is hit on the passenger-side front bumper. She lands on the hood, then falls off.

The driver appears to be a young male who had earlier driven by the protest several times. Reports say he had just climbed into the car after a confrontation on the sidewalk. The vehicle paused briefly after the collision when a school administrator flagged it down. Then it sped away. A male passenger is visible looking out the front passenger window. While stopped, one protester grabbed the Trump flag off the back of the car.

The injured student was conscious and talking after the crash. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. As of Thursday night there were no public reports about charges or the victim’s condition.

Local outlets posted several videos of the incident and interviews with students. KETV and News Channel Nebraska captured footage from in front of and behind the car, and recorded the ambulance response.

The school district issued a statement acknowledging the incident and saying they are cooperating with law enforcement. Parents and students at the scene described a frightening moment that escalated quickly. Witnesses say the driver had circled the area before the collision.

State leaders urged calm and called for a full investigation. Here are their words:

“Here’s a fundamental truth we should all agree upon: Political violence – no matter what – is never okay. There is a lot about this particular situation we still need to learn, and we trust that local law enforcement will carry out a thorough and complete investigation. The freedom to peacefully assemble is a cornerstone of American government and must be protected.
We will continue to monitor this situation and pray for the health of the girl who was hit.”

“In Nebraska, we respect the right of people to peacefully protest. Disrupting such a peaceful protest with violence is never ok, and I hope the person involved is identified. Praying for the young woman in this horrible incident.”

“I am praying for the high school student injured in this incident. We must all remember that we can disagree politically, and not resort to violence as a response. I expect that all high school administrations will make sure all students have a safe and productive learning environment, and take appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.”

“We have the right to peaceful protest. The driver of this car should be held accountable for using their vehicle to assault a legal protestor. Let us be decent towards each other and respect differences of opinions. Decency, patience, kindness and empathy.”

“This is not what we do in Nebraska – this is not ok. The video of the girl being hit by a car at the school protest is disturbing. While initial reports say that the girl was alert and talking when she was taken away, we are praying for her and her well being. The incident needs to be fully investigated by law enforcement. It is critical that our country preserve the ability of people to safely protest.”

What happens next depends on investigators. Police will review footage and interview witnesses. School leaders will consider disciplinary steps if the driver is a student. The scene shows how fast protests can turn dangerous when emotions run high.

People on both sides called for restraint. Officials stressed the right to protest and the need to keep everyone safe. The incident has drawn attention from state leaders who want answers and want safety restored on campus.

We will update this story as authorities release more information.
