Britt Slams Dems Over Munich, DHS Cuts

Sen. Katie Britt didn’t hold back. She called out Democrats for jetting to the Munich Security Conference to lecture the world on safety while refusing to fund the agencies that protect Americans at home.

Short trips. Big hypocrisy. That was Britt’s point.

She put the spotlight on a basic fact: border security and interior enforcement matter. And, she said, President Donald Trump is the one leading the fight on those fronts.

Sen. Katie Britt:

I should have different roles. First, to go back to your earlier point, this is obviously the President negotiating with Democrats. There’s no one better on the border than President Trump. There’s no one better on interior enforcement than President Trump, and there’s no one better at making a deal than President Trump. And so, when we look at our role, it’s supporting that and elevating that. But what our Democratic colleagues have to realize is that we’re not going to walk away from enforcing the law. And when they talk about these different things and they’re looking at it, they know that it’s rich, to be honest with you, to watch so many of them having flown off to Munich to talk about national security on the world stage, but yet failing to fund our own here at home.

They know that ICE and CBP will continue to be funded throughout this, but they know that the other things that keep Americans safe will not, and that actual American workers—TSA agents—will be the ones paying the price.

Look, we believe that local, state law enforcement should work together with federal law enforcement. That’s why we don’t believe in sanctuary cities.

We believe sanctuary cities are the root cause of so much of what we’re seeing today. We’re not going to back away from that. We’ve come to the table with good-faith propositions that we feel keep our law enforcement officers safe and keep American citizens safe, which is our priority. And I hope that Democrats will join us.

I think they continue to play politics, Shannon, and it’s unfortunate because the American people will be the ones to pay the price.

Britt’s message was sharp and simple. If you care about security, you fund the people who do the work. You don’t fly overseas for photo-ops while leaving agents and officers in limbo back home.

This isn’t just political theater. Funding gaps mean real cuts. TSA agents can face furloughs. Local communities can face more risk. That’s the argument Britt pressed on air.

The fight now is over who will put homeland safety first. Britt framed it as a clear choice: back the people on the front lines and support tough enforcement — or let politics get in the way.

Expect more sharp exchanges. Expect the spotlight to stay on funding votes. And expect Republicans to keep pushing the message that actual security starts at home.
