CIA insider exposes the COVID lab leak cover-up

CIA Insider Says COVID Cover-Up Was Real

A career CIA officer is putting a new spotlight on one of the biggest fights from the pandemic era. In testimony under oath, James Erdman III said the intelligence community did not handle COVID-19 origins the way it should have. He argued that key officials downplayed the chance that the virus came from a lab incident in China.

Erdman said he served on joint duty assignment at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence from March 2025 through April 2026. He described his work inside the Directors Initiatives Group, or DIG, and said he helped lead investigations tied to COVID origins, anomalous health incidents, and unidentified anomalous phenomena.

“Thank you for the complimentary introduction, and I appreciate the committee’s dedication to transparency and accountability,” Erdman said at the start of his testimony.

He then laid out his central claim. “I am a career CIA operations officer, and as you mentioned, I was on joint duty assignment at the Office of Director National Intelligence directors initiatives group or the dig between March 2025, and April 2026,” Erdman said. He added, “I was responsible for leading the digs investigation into covid origins, anomalous health incidents and unidentified anomalous phenomena,” Erdman said.

According to Erdman, the problem was not just a mistake. He said the intelligence community leadership and senior analysts minimized the lab-leak possibility and that the result was a broken process. “Intelligence community leaders and senior analysts downplayed the possibility that the covid pandemic originated as a result of a lab incident,” Erdman said. He also claimed, “Motives are difficult to define, given the scope of the digs review, intentional or not, the ICS actions resulted in a cover up wasted resources and a failure to properly inform policy makers,” Erdman said.

He went a step further and tied the issue to public health policy. “Public health policy would have been very different had the American public been made aware that a virus from a lab in China was going to serve as the foundation for an emergency use authorization mRNA products being mandated by the former Administration,” Erdman said.

Erdman also accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of shaping the intelligence process around COVID origins. “Dr fauci’s role in the cover up was intentional,” Erdman said. He added, “Dr Fauci influenced the analytical process and findings by leveraging his position to ensure the IC consulted with a conflicted list of curated subject matter experts, public health health officials and scientists,” Erdman said.

Those are serious allegations, and they are sure to keep the COVID origins debate alive. Erdman’s testimony adds fresh pressure for more transparency, more documents, and more answers from the people who handled the investigation.
