Maine Weatherman Patrick Osborn Can’t Stop Laughing During Live Broadcast (VIDEO)
Patrick Osborn, a meteorologist for Maine news station WABI, found himself in an impossible spot during a live weather report. He was supposed to deliver the forecast. Instead, he broke into an uncontrollable fit of laughter and could not regain his composure.
The strange moment reportedly began with a practical joke shortly before Osborn went on air. He had tried to prank fellow anchor Josh Gabbard during a commercial break. But the joke ended up backfiring on Osborn in a big way.
Osborn said he played a short Charlie Brown video for its sound effects. He did not realize the clip was actually an hour-long compilation. Every few minutes, it replayed the familiar “Wah Wah Wah” sound used for the teachers in the cartoons.
That was apparently enough to send Osborn into a spiral of laughter when the broadcast resumed.
Video from the Sunday morning report showed Osborn gasping for breath as he tried to read temperatures between chuckles. He repeatedly apologized, but the laughter kept getting worse. Before long, his speech became impossible to understand.
The fit lasted about a minute. Osborn eventually stepped off camera, returned, and then handed the broadcast over to a colleague. FOX News also reported on the moment, describing the meteorologist as struggling repeatedly to hold back his laughter while viewers watched the situation unravel in real time.
When Osborn later discussed the incident with WABI co-anchor Brian Sullivan, he explained exactly what happened.
“I got a fit of laughter that I was not able to control on air, unfortunately. A lot of times, something funny happens, and I’m able to contain myself, but this one, it was just a little too overwhelming.”
The clip quickly drew attention online because Osborn was not simply smiling or chuckling. He was fighting to breathe, squealing between words, and struggling to complete even the basic weather details.

It is the kind of newsroom mishap that is almost impossible to recover from once the laughter starts. In this case, a harmless prank, a looping cartoon sound effect, and a live weather report combined for a memorable on-air meltdown. There were probably plenty of laughs in the newsroom after the broadcast ended.
