Fifth Juror Says He Was ‘Devastated’ as Lone Holdout Refused to Clear Lindsay Clancy
Another juror from the Lindsay Clancy triple-murder trial has gone public, and he is taking aim at the lone man who refused to vote for an acquittal based on a lack of criminal responsibility.
Nick Dargie, 25, is at least the fifth juror to speak publicly since the mistrial. He was one of the two men among the 11 jurors who supported finding Clancy not guilty by reason of a lack of criminal responsibility.
Clancy admitted strangling her three children inside the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home on January 24, 2023. The children were Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and eight-month-old Callan.
Her defense team argued that Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis and could not understand that her actions were wrong. Prosecutors presented a sharply different case. They argued that Clancy acted deliberately, sent her husband out on an errand, and planned the killings.
In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Dargie said he was “devastated” that the jury could not reach a verdict clearing Clancy of criminal responsibility.
He also criticized the lone male holdout, saying the juror could not point to evidence supporting his position.
“There was — there was several times would ask him to show us, like, evidence or, you know, describe a witness testimony that helped to prove what he was saying. And — and he couldn’t,” Dargie told ABC’s Aaron Katersky.
“There wasn’t a single piece of evidence or witness testimony that he used to prove why he was thinking the way he was, which is why we ultimately sent in that note. Otherwise, like, there’s nothing wrong with somebody having a complete opposite opinion. Like, that’s — you know, that would be a hung jury. That — like, that is our justice system.”
But a separate interview with an anonymous female juror offered a different picture. She defended the holdout and acknowledged that several members of the panel had become firmly entrenched in their positions. That account undercuts the growing portrayal of one “rogue” juror single-handedly blocking a verdict.
Three other jurors previously appeared on NBC News and criticized the holdout as well. They called him “arrogant” and complained that he could not move past the fact that Clancy had “viciously killed her children.”
Clancy attorney Kevin Reddington also unsuccessfully sought to have the holdout removed, accusing him of lying under oath. Judge William Sullivan rejected that request and declared a mistrial after seven days of deliberations.
The holdout juror has remained silent while Dargie, Clancy’s attorneys, and other jurors have appeared on television to attack his character. President Trump later called the case a “horrible tragedy” and said Clancy had done a “horrible, horrible thing.”
“There’ll be a price,” Trump said, according to previous Gateway Pundit reporting.
