March for Our Lives Posts Gun Ownership ‘Fun Fact’—Then Gets Ratioed by Patriotic Replies
March for Our Lives appeared to be aiming for an anti-gun point when it posted about American firearm ownership on Twitter/X. Instead, the post triggered a wave of sarcastic, patriotic and openly defiant replies.
The gun-control group posted the statement on October 10, 2026:
“The United States has more guns in civilian hands than every military in the world combined.”
The post was presented as an anti-gun argument, but users responding to it read the statement very differently. Instead of treating the statistic as a reason for concern, they treated it as a point of pride—and used the reply section to make that clear.
Matt’s Idea Shop offered a short response: “Stop, please! I can only get so patriotic.”
A separate reply from Ishi was shared as an image rather than a written comment.
Skeptical Stoic turned the post into a message to the rest of the world:
“Dear World,
You’re welcome, in advance.
Sincerely, The Second Amendment”
Robb was even more direct, writing: “And we’re gonna keep buying more guns, because fuck you.”
Other users answered with image posts. Andrew Foss and Desert Tactical Solutions each posted a visual response instead of a written comment.
One commenter summed up the pro-Second Amendment reaction by writing: “This is great news for the security of the United States and the protection of the rights of the citizens of the United States.”
Another response was also shared as an image post.
Overboosted focused not only on guns, but on ammunition as well. The response read: “Not only guns, but ammo too. Whenever the fake news headlines say that someone had "over 1000 rounds" of ammo in their house, I have to chuckle a little. This was for a day at the range today with the guys.”
Ava- I Love My USA! responded with another image post, followed by a brief message from RightWI: “Yes and don’t you forget it.”
One of the final listed responses took an especially aggressive tone: “let this be known to anyone who even think of attempting an invasion we have so many rednecks who are so much more well armed than your armies we would have to make laws to stop them from collecting your dead skulls as souvenirs 🥰”
The original post was only a single sentence. But the replies quickly flipped its apparent message. What March for Our Lives presented as an anti-gun point was received by these users as evidence of American strength, individual rights and the importance of the Second Amendment.
That tweet didn’t work out too well for them, did it?
