Nick Cannon Sparks Media Firestorm Over KKK Claim
Nick Cannon is an entertainer. A rapper. A comedian. A TV personality. He also speaks his mind — loudly.
Recently a clip from his web show went viral. In it he drops a blunt line about party history. The moment lit up social feeds. It also drew predictable headlines.
Variety ran this: “Nick Cannon Calls the Democratic Party the ‘Party of the KKK’ and Says ‘I F— With Trump’”
On the episode Cannon said, “I agree with you 100%. People don’t know that the Democrats are the party of the KKK. People don’t know that the Republicans are the party that freed the slaves. I mean, both of you and I have some conservative views. You’re just a little bit more outspoken than I am. And honestly, I don’t subscribe to either party. I rock with W. E. B. Du Bois, when he said there’s no such thing as two parties. It’s just one evil party with two different names.”
He went on to praise President Donald Trump’s actions in office, saying the president was “motherfucker’s cleaning house” and “doing what he said he was gonna do.” Cannon added, “We got the Gulf of America now,” and, “He’s like the club. He’s charging a $5 million bottle service fee to get into the country.”
That last line is showman talk. The KKK line hits harder. It points at real history: after the Civil War some Democratic factions backed white supremacist groups, including the original Ku Klux Klan. Historians note that political realignments over the 20th century changed party coalitions dramatically. Context matters. But context didn’t stop the viral outrage.
Media outlets treated the clip like a provocation. Some framed Cannon as ignorant. Others called him outspoken. Fans and critics both piled in on social media.
