9/11 Widow Slams Biden’s ‘Outrageous’ Plea Deals For Gitmo Terrorists

23 years after the devastating September 11, 2001 attacks, the families of victims gathered at Ground Zero on Wednesday to honor and remember their loved ones. Among them was Joanne Barbara, the widow of New York City Fire Department Chief Gerard A. Barbara, who was killed in the attacks. In her powerful speech, she slammed the Biden administration for their “outrageous” attempts to offer plea deals to three suspected 9/11 terrorists, including alleged mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

Ms. Barbara, a Navy veteran herself, spoke passionately about the need for justice and accountability for the lives lost on that horrific day. She reminded the audience that for the families of 9/11 victims, the pain and suffering continues to this day, and that it is “outrageous” that our government would even consider granting plea deals to the terrorists responsible.

Fortunately, Ms. Barbara also highlighted the fact that the voices of the 9/11 community were heard, and that the plea deals were ultimately rejected thanks to their outcry. It is a clear reminder that the families of 9/11 victims should never be silenced or ignored when it comes to seeking justice for their loved ones.

Ms. Barbara also took the opportunity to call out President Biden for his recent remark where he said he would be “doing 9/11” on Wednesday, in reference to attending the remembrance ceremony at Ground Zero. She deemed it a “flippant remark” and emphasized that for the families of 9/11 victims, every day is a painful reminder, not just on the anniversary.

In contrast to Biden’s insensitive remark, prominent officials who attended Wednesday’s ceremony, including former President Donald Trump, showed their respect and reverence to the 9/11 families. Mr. Trump has always been a staunch advocate for the families and first responders of 9/11, and his presence at the ceremony was a clear demonstration of his unwavering support. He was joined by notable figures such as Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and Vice President Kamala Harris.
