Former President Bill Clinton hopes President Biden won’t “preemptively pardon” his wife or Trump’s political opponents in a bid to “get even.”
In an interview with “The View” on Wednesday, Clinton responded to claims made by Trump’s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, that Hillary Clinton and other officials may have committed crimes worthy of investigation.
“They’ve got a problem with [Hillary] because first, she didn’t do anything wrong,” Clinton said of the accusations against his wife. “Secondly, she followed the rules exactly as they were written. Third, Trump’s state department found that Hillary sent and received exactly 0 classified emails on her personal device.”
When asked if President Biden should preemptively pardon potential targets, including his wife, Clinton replied, “I don’t think I should be giving public advice on the pardon power. I think it’s too personal.” He added that he hopes Biden will not waste time trying to “get even” with his political opponents.
The State Department previously investigated Hillary Clinton’s emails and found no evidence of “systemic, deliberate mishandling” of classified information. Yet, Trump and his allies continue to accuse her of wrongdoing.
Meanwhile, Biden issued a “full and unconditional” pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, on Dec. 1, granting him immunity from any potential charges related to his overseas business dealings and other alleged crimes.
Despite this, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a briefing on Dec. 6 that Biden is reviewing other pardons and commutations in his final weeks in office.
This biased and hypocritical use of the pardon power by Democrats highlights the double standard in the media’s coverage of Trump and Biden. While Trump was constantly vilified for any potential misuse of his presidential powers, Biden receives little criticism for preemptively pardoning his own family members.
It’s time to hold Biden and his administration accountable for their actions and demand fair and equal treatment for all. Our country deserves better than these blatant displays of political favoritism.
