Florida Democratic Delegate and LGBTQ activist, Matthew Inman, was arrested following accusations of distributing child pornography to an undercover officer. Inman, 39, has held notable positions, including being the President of the Rainbow Democrats, which is a group committed to improving relations between LGBTQIA+ individuals and Democratic Party members. Residing in Orlando, Inman has also been the Treasurer for the Orange County Democratic Party. His digital footprint reveals his political affiliations as a staunch supporter of Kamala Harris and critic of Donald Trump, showcased by his social media declarations. During the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Inman publicly expressed his endorsement for Harris as a delegate representing Congressional District 9.
According to a statement from the U.S. District Attorney’s office, Inman allegedly engaged in illegal activities from August to October 2024, involving the possession and dissemination of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM). The materials reportedly contained disturbing content depicting adults abusing minors. Inman purportedly distributed these illicit materials to an undercover officer who was posing as the guardian of a young child. Inman is accused of expressing a desire to meet and abuse the officer’s fictitious son.
Attempting to obstruct justice, Inman reportedly tried to delete the incriminating evidence and attempted to hide in his attic while FBI agents executed a search of his residence. The charges against him include transportation of CSAM, a federal offense that carries a minimum sentence of five years and could extend up to 20 years in prison.
The criminal complaint serves as a formal accusation, and as per standard legal procedures, Inman is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard Varadan. This case is part of a larger initiative, Project Safe Childhood, launched by the Department of Justice in 2006, aimed at addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse in the U.S. The project collaborates with various law enforcement agencies to bring offenders to justice while ensuring the victims’ protection and recovery.
