On Wednesday, it was revealed that yet another busload of migrants were dropped off at Vice President Kamala Harris’ home in Washington D.C. – and the Biden administration’s response to the news was anything but positive.
Gee… I wonder what the problem here could be.
In a statement, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas called the move a “sad and tragic day,” and President Joe Biden’s administration has been noticeably silent on the issue.
The busing of migrants to Vice President Harris’ residence is the latest in a long string of controversies surrounding the Biden administration and their handling of the illegal immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The crisis has been exacerbated by the Biden administration’s reversal of the Trump-era immigration policy, Title 42, which allowed for the expulsion of millions of migrants. The policy was set to expire on Thursday – and its expiration is expected to create a massive surge in illegal immigration at the border.
The migrant busing to Harris’ residence, however, is not a new phenomenon – it’s been going on since April 2022. That’s when Texas Governor Greg Abbott began sending buses of migrants from border communities to Washington, D.C., promising to continue the “necessary” bussing procedure until the Biden administration secures the border.
So far, nearly 9,400 migrants have been bussed to D.C. from Texas – and the numbers just keep growing.
Unsurprisingly, the Biden administration has been largely silent on the issue – and it’s clear that their policies have only served to make an already bad situation worse. Not only have they failed to secure the border, but they’ve also failed to address the humanitarian crisis that their policies have created.
It’s a tragedy that the Biden administration has allowed this situation to spiral out of control – and it’s even more tragic that they’ve chosen to ignore it. Governor Abbott should be commended for his efforts in trying to alleviate the situation, and it’s time for the Biden administration to step up and take responsibility for the crisis they’ve created.
