Caramelized Onions Blow Kamala Away: ‘Very Nice! Quite Decadent!’

Kamala Harris’ recent public display of admiration for the recommendation of “carmelized onions” reveals how out of touch she is with the average American citizen. The Vice President, instead of focusing her attention on the pressing issues at the U.S.-Mexico border, was completely engrossed in the commentary of an deli worker declaring the decadence of such a topping.

“It’s actually a Fromage blanc, but it comes across like cream cheese,” the deli worker exclaimed, “you could put fresh strawberries and fresh fruit on it.” When asked about savory choices to accompany the cheese selection, the man presented the Vice President with an unexpected delicacy.

“Maybe some caramelized onions?” he suggested.

Vice President Harris’ immediate response was admiration, exclaiming “Oh! That would be nice. Oh, I like that. That would be very nice. Quite decadent, and very nice!” The lack of connection to the everyday struggles of the American people prompted this response to such mundane, and dare we say, decadent subject matter.

Vice President Kamala Harris has been in the spotlight since taking on the immigration issue the Biden-Harris administration has been tasked with. The Times tracking the national opinion polls show that Harris’ approval ratings has significantly declined since she was assigned the role. The dip in her favorability comes in correspondence with President Biden’s job approval, as well as her infamous story regarding an NBC interview with Lester Holt. In the interview, Harris shut down a question about why she had not yet visited the U.S.-Mexico border, sparking widespread public backlash.

Her follow-up comments during her foreign visits in Mexico and Guatemala seemed to be tone-deaf. People are now comparing her favorability rating to President Biden’s, and mental notes of such displays of detachment from reality with her favorable opinion of caramelized onions. Kamala has been painted an out-of-touch elite, out of touch of the struggles that everyday Americans encounter during their daily lives.

This reminds me of Mitt Romney’s potatoes surprise. The only difference is, Harris is actually more unpopular than him.
