Chicago Mayor Plays Blame Game Instead of Tackling Problematic Crime Rates, Drags Nixon Into The Argument

Outrage erupted after Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson blamed former President Richard Nixon for the recent surge of gun violence in Chicago, during a press conference on Monday. Over 100 people were shot, and 19 killed, during the July 4th holiday weekend alone. Johnson’s unexpected mention of Nixon’s name left many wondering how the two could possibly be connected.

But let’s not forget, this is the same government official who spent over $30,000 of campaign funds on hair and makeup in one year. So, let’s take a closer look at Johnson’s remarks and the real reason behind Chicago’s ongoing crime problem.

Johnson seemed to suggest that Nixon’s victory in 1968 was the root cause of Chicago’s ongoing violence issue. He failed to elaborate on this claim, but instead chose to divert attention away from the city’s own failures. This is a classic tactic of the left – blame someone else for their own mistakes and shortcomings. But let’s not forget that Johnson’s party has been in control of Chicago for over 60 years, and yet the city continues to be plagued by crime and violence.

Instead of taking responsibility for the current state of Chicago, Johnson chose to use the oldest trick in the book – playing the race card. He spoke of “black death” being accepted in this country for a very long time, as if that has any relevance to the issue at hand. The truth is, Johnson’s party has been exploiting race for their own political gain for decades. They have made false promises and failed to address the real issues affecting their communities.

During the press conference, Johnson also vowed to crack down on gun violence and hold those responsible accountable. But where was this tough talk when Chicago was experiencing a record high in violent crimes in 2023? It’s clear that Johnson only cares about appearing tough for the cameras, rather than actually taking effective action to address the problem.

Let’s not forget that Chicago has one of the worst crime rates of any city in the country, despite a small reduction in 2023. Homicide rates have dropped, but it’s still considerably higher than it was in 2014.

And what about the high rates of armed robberies and the abysmal arrest rates? These are all issues that have been ongoing under Johnson’s party’s leadership. Yet they continue to deflect and blame others instead of taking real accountability.

WATCH

Johnson’s pleas and promises are nothing more than empty words. As an angry Republican, I am sick and tired of seeing these politicians prioritize their own agendas and power over the safety and well-being of their citizens.

It’s time for real change and real action, not just empty promises and false narratives. It’s time for Johnson and his party to take a hard look in the mirror and take real responsibility for the mess they have created in Chicago. The people need to demand better…
