Vance and Donald Trump.”
Sellers went on to detail a meeting with the Democratic National Committee last week, where they set forth rules and parameters for the upcoming convention in August. He believes that the vice president will receive a boost in donations in the coming days and that there is no possibility for an open primary or a shakeup of the entire ticket.
But not everyone is as thrilled as Sellers about the prospect of Harris as the nominee. The recent announcement from Biden comes after weeks of backlash from within his own party, with over 30 lawmakers publicly expressing their dissatisfaction with him remaining as the nominee. Even former President Barack Obama has refused to endorse Harris, instead calling for a “process from which an outstanding nominee emerges.”
This dissatisfaction with Biden is also reflected in recent polls, where a majority of adults, including 65% of Democrats, believe that he should withdraw from the race and allow the party to select another nominee. According to the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, Biden’s approval among Democrats has dropped ten points in the last month alone, with nearly half of Democrats no longer supporting him.
