Democrats plot to Destroy Electoral College After Trump Victory

Senate Democrats have launched a blatant attack on the American electoral system by introducing a bill to abolish the Electoral College. This move comes after the Democratic party suffered devastating losses in the November elections.

Sponsored by Senators Brian Schatz, Dick Durbin, and Peter Welch, the S.J. Res. 121 proposes a Constitutional amendment to replace the current Electoral College system with a simple national popular vote. This move, according to Schatz, is necessary because “the person who gets the most votes should win. It’s that simple.” Durbin also chimed in, calling the Electoral College an “18th century invention that disenfranchises millions of Americans.”

However, defenders of the Electoral College argue that it serves as a safeguard against outright majoritarian rule and ensures that the interests of voters in less populous states are not ignored. This sentiment was echoed by Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who was Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate in her failed 2024 campaign. He recently stated that the Electoral College “needs to go.”

It is worth noting that prior to the 2024 election, the last time a Republican presidential candidate won the popular vote was in 2004. However, in the 2016 election, President-elect Donald Trump won the presidency despite losing the popular vote. This fact demonstrates that the Electoral College does not necessarily benefit one party over the other.

This latest move by Senate Democrats is nothing more than a desperate attempt to overturn the results of the 2024 election and undermine the foundation of our democracy. Despite their complaints about the Electoral College, Trump would have still won the election with or without it, as he earned approximately 2.3 million more votes than Vice President Harris, according to The Associated Press.

It is clear that Democrats are attempting to use the Electoral College as a scapegoat for their party’s failures. But the truth is, the Electoral College ensures that all states, regardless of size, have a voice in the presidential election. This is a crucial component of our democratic process that should not be abolished.

The Senate Democrats’ move to abolish the Electoral College is just another ploy to undermine President Trump and his victory in the 2024 election. It is an attack on the American people’s voices and an attempt to push a dangerous and radical agenda. But we must not let them succeed.
