Ron DeSantis unveiled a sweeping plan on Monday to advance his policy platform if elected president in 2024, proposing the introduction of a “huge” reconciliation package. During an interview with New Hampshire radio host Hugh Hewitt, the Florida Governor laid out his plans to take on the border crisis, repeal Joe Biden’s Green New Deal, and bolster the economy.
With the Trump-era Title 42 having recently expired, Governor DeSantis has gone to great lengths to ensure the safety of his constituents. Earlier this month, he deployed troops to the southern border and shipped illegal migrants to the sanctuary state of California. During a press conference in February, he criticized Biden’s energy policy and argued for energy independence.
The centerpiece of his reconciliation package is to tackle the border crisis, as it is something he feels must be addressed. He has pledged to do whatever it takes to shut it down. Not only will he repeal the Biden administration’s controversial Green New Deal, but he hopes to institute practices that will stimulate the economy and help create manufacturing jobs, such as full expensing for businesses.
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is the keystone to Biden’s signature climate law. IRA includes a range of tax credits to be used for the production of batteries used in electric vehicles and other energy-efficient appliances, as well as plans to limit fossil fuel emissions. DeSantis labeled this as a “dumping” of policy changes and said it cannot be handled with one single reconciliation package.
DeSantis is committed to making sure the United States shifts away from dependence on foreign oil sources and instead relies on innovation and market-based solutions.
DESANTIS on relocating illegal immigrants to Sanctuary Cities: “They have bragged that they are sanctuary jurisdictions.”
“And then, what? When they have to deal with some of the fruits of [illegal immigration], they all of a sudden become very, very upset!” pic.twitter.com/f77Ol1bygc

In Florida, he argued that emissions have decrease drastically over the past ten years without the need for politicizing the weather. His ultimate goal is to make sure the United States is energy-independent and utilizes the resources it has available.
