On Monday’s CNN This Morning, host Kaitlin Collins suggested that “Democratic party leaders say that President Biden may still be the ticket for 2024 even if they’re not passionate about him.” Don Lemon’s response? “The people love him!”
It’s hard to take Lemon seriously, considering that recent polls show that 40% of America says things are worse under Biden and only 16% think they are better. Despite these numbers, Lemon claims that there’s a “disconnect between the people and the party leaders” and that the “people on the street love him.”
In an effort to back up his statement, Lemon brought in Semafor’s Ben Smith who mentioned that “many black Democrats in South Carolina love Biden.” While that may be true, it’s hardly representative of the entire American population. To further prove his point, Lemon used a poll of one—his own mother—who he described as a “church lady” and who he said “loves Biden.”
It’s obvious that Lemon is trying to paint Biden as an adored figure in the Democratic party. But the evidence just doesn’t support his argument. The poll that Collins had just shown indicated that 58% of Democrats wanted someone other than Biden as their 2024 candidate. That’s hardly a show of passionate love for Biden.
The bottom line is that Lemon’s claim that the people love Biden just doesn’t hold up. The evidence simply doesn’t support it. It seems that the media elites have a deep-seated love for Obama, but the people are far less passionate about Biden. Lemon’s attempt to portray Biden as a beloved figure in the Democratic party is misguided, to say the least.
Look, Lemon is far from what I would call a ‘serious news source’. The guy has made his career pitching propaganda and lying but this? This has to be a joke!
