According to Fox News some 20 states, including deep blue states, have followed the lead of Montana Governor Greg Gianforte in tossing out Biden’s crippling unemployment package. Gianforte announced that he has high jacked the White House’s useless plan and is taking the would-be short-lived funds to create a long-term workable plan.
Gianforte announced Monday that he’s creating a ‘get back to work’ incentive for employees ready to get control of their lives again and adds that so far, it’s a better plan than Biden’s short-term fix:
Gianforte began, “We’ve had a terrific response. You know, we were paying people to stay home, which was appropriate during the midst of the pandemic. And as you know, we were the first state to remove these supplemental benefit.”
Gianforte spoke lack of employees and the impact it has had on business owners, “I had a hotel owner here in Helena, Montana, who hadn’t been able to find workers for months. In fact, the manager was cleaning rooms and doing laundry himself because he couldn’t get anybody to apply. Within a couple of days of us removing the supplemental benefits, they had 60 applications at that single hotel.”
Gianforte said the plan is simple, “We were paying people $42,000 a year to sit at home and unemployment is a safety net and we need it. It should be there for the people when they hit a rough patch.” Adding, ” But as I said many times, it should not be a career choice. And we were incenting people to stay home instead of getting back to work and in the process removing the satisfaction that comes from working hard and being self-sufficient.”
Instead, Gianforte says he wants to “give people the dignity of work.” Concluding, “We have plenty of jobs and it’s time for people to get back to work.”
Gianforte campaigned on getting Montana’s economy going again, getting Montana safely open for business, and getting Montanans back to work in good-paying jobs. He also focused on changing the way Helena and the state government do business to better serve Montanans.
After 34 years in the private sector, Gianforte has been Montana’s voice in the U.S. House of Representatives since June 2017. In Congress, Gianforte voted to cut taxes for every American taxpayer, roll back unnecessary, anti-jobs regulations, lower health care costs, and protect our Montana way of life, including our public lands.
