Gun-Control Doesn’t Work, Look What Just Happened In Oakland!

As cities across the United States grapple with a surge in crime, Oakland, California is no exception. On Monday night, a 15-month-old girl was shot in the stomach while riding in a car with her parents in Oakland. The infant is currently recovering in a stable condition at UCSF Children’s Hospital.

The incident was reported after shot-locating technology alerted police to the area, and the parents drove to a nearby fire station for help. Firefighters were able to provide the child with initial medical care before medics arrived.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Across the country, cities are seeing a sharp rise in violent crime, with Oakland being no exception. Businesses and residents in the area are feeling the effects, as they are forced to take extra precautions to protect themselves and their families.

This uptick in crime can be largely attributed to the leniency and policies of pro-crime Democrats, who have been in power in many cities for years. Many of these cities have seen persistent high levels of crime, with little to no effort being made to address the issue.

In the wake of these tragic events, it is vital that the public pressure these elected officials to take action against the rising crime in their cities. People must also take precautionary steps to protect themselves and their loved ones, such as avoiding dangerous areas, being aware of their surroundings, and notifying police of any suspicious activity.

Sometimes it’s also not a bad idea to carry if and when legally allowed. I know this is a tragic story and thankfully the child is still alive but this is a perfect example of how gun control doesn’t work. Criminals don’t abide by the law. Oakland has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country and still has a higher crime rate than most US cities.

The shooting of a 15-month-old girl in Oakland is not only heartbreaking, but a stark reminder of the need for urgent action to tackle crime in America. It is time for the public to hold their elected officials accountable and demand better policies that will effectively combat crime and keep citizens safe.
