As the Biden administration continues to be embroiled in scandal after scandal, one of the most outrageous and offensive statements came from longtime Democratic Georgia Representative Hank Johnson. From claiming Guam will “capsize” due to too many people to comparing Jewish Israeli settlers to “termites,” Johnson has made some of the wildest and most outrageous statements since taking office in 2007.
More recently, Johnson defended the Biden administration amidst the classified documents scandal by claiming that the documents may have been “planted” and that he was “suspicious of the timing” surrounding the classified document batches’ discoveries.
Johnson’s claims have been nothing short of outrageous and offensive, yet another example of the Biden administration’s complete disregard for the truth.
Johnson’s most famous statement was sharing his worry that the U.S. territory of Guam could “capsize” if too many people were on the island. During a 2010 House Armed Services Committee hearing on a planned military buildup in the territory, Johnson said, “My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.”
Despite the retired Admiral Robert Willard’s assurance that the population of Guam was only around 175,000, Johnson’s statement was widely ridiculed, and he later claimed he was joking.
During a House Judiciary Committee hearing in September of last year, Johnson also claimed that “MAGA Republicans” descended on school board meetings similarly to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. He accused Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy of pushing “White power” and “White privilege” for objecting to his claims that America was presided over by a “racist Senate.” Johnson also took heat in 2016 when he compared Jewish Israeli settlers in disputed areas with Palestinians to “termites” eating homes at a U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation event.
The Biden administration’s corruption and the outrageous statements made by Hank Johnson are an affront to truth and justice. The American people deserve better than a president who is surrounded by scandal and a representative who believes outlandish conspiracy theories.
The Biden administration and Johnson must be held accountable for their words and actions or else the American people will continue to suffer from their disregard for the truth.
