Let’s see if Kamala Harris can awkwardly laugh her way out of this one. Harris did a Q&A session at Virginia’s George Mason University and listened to a student’s hateful spiel about Israel. After the student was done slandering Israel Harris didn’t even blink, in fact, she praised the students for making her voice heard. Iran State Media picked this up and shared the video on Twitter, happy Harris was indirectly bashing our ally.
The student’s anti-Israel rant.
“I see that over the summer, there have been protests and demonstrations in astronomical numbers standing with Palestine,” a student told Harris. “But then, just a few days ago, there were funds allocated to continue backing Israel, which hurts my heart because it’s ethnic genocide and displacement of people, the same that happened in America, and I’m sure you’re aware of this. And I bring this up also because of the issue of how Americans are struggling because of a lack of health care, public health care, lack of affordable housing and all this money ends up going to Israel, and funding Israel…”
“I’m glad you [spoke up]. This is about the fact that your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth, should not be suppressed and it must be heard, right? And one of the things we’re fighting for in a democracy, right?” Kamala Responded.

Student accuses US of funding “ethnic genocide” by Israel in front of VP Harris

“David Friedman, the former US ambassador to Israel, denounced Harris’ statements, writing on Twitter: “Shameful. There is truth and there are lies. No one is entitled to their personal truth. This attack on Israel is simply a lie and VPOTUS should have called that out.”
On Thursday, Harris’ office contacted the influential Democratic Majority for Israel to smooth over her remarks.
“We were pleased Vice President Harris’s senior staff reached out to us today to confirm what we already knew: Her ‘commitment to Israel’s security is unwavering,’” Mark Mellman, the group’s president, claimed.”
Harris should have spoken up and righted the student. She is a representative of our country and should have realized what needed to be done. It looks like she tried to distance herself a little with the “your” bit but that’s not enough. The student was claiming Israel was part of some sort of Genocide and Harris was practically agreeing with it by not speaking up. Lucky for her, her staff is better at dealing with people than she is, and it appears they have made all of the necessary apologies and given the reassurances needed to smooth things over.
