Comedian Bill Burr’s recent appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” drew significant attention when he surprisingly commended the response to the California wildfires, claiming that “everybody did a great job.” This assertion was made during a conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, a host known for his outspoken critical views on former President Trump. Burr’s comments have stirred controversy, considering the widespread criticism of the state’s management of the fires. Many Californians believe that the only ones truly deserving of praise are the first responders and firefighters who risked their lives, often saying that they were constrained by the state’s Democratic leadership.
From his interview, it seems Burr trivialized the valid criticisms directed at California officials, labeling them as the ramblings of “online trolls posing as experts.” He argued that “everybody did a great job” responding to the wildfires, an opinion that is hard to fathom for many affected by the disaster. This attitude dismisses the frustration of numerous Californians who feel let down by their government.
While chatting with Jimmy Kimmel, Burr addressed criticisms directed at the Los Angeles Fire Department, notably those suggesting that helicopters should have been deployed sooner to combat the flames. Burr seems to mock the laypeople providing these critiques, saying sarcastically, “‘Why don’t you just fly a helicopter into the ocean?’ I don’t know, because it was 100-knot winds? You want to do that? You want to do that at night, you f—king lunatic?” His attitude seemed to belittle the genuine concerns of those who believed that the natural disaster responses were inadequate.
Burr’s controversial statements deflect attention away from the reality of the situation. For many citizens, including Democrats, it’s painfully evident that the response from the California government, headed by figures like Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom, were far from adequate. Critics suggest that there should be accountability, proposing strong repercussions for those in charge. In their opinion, Newsom and others fell short of their responsibility to protect their constituents from a disaster that has become increasingly common in California.
It’s interesting to note how Burr, who often voices opinions that challenge conventional wisdom, seemed to have sided in this case with those many view as part of the deep state apparatus, in contrast to the outsider ethos championed by former President Trump.
The comparison highlights stark differences in handling crises, with many Trump supporters longing for the straightforwardness and accountability they believe was present during his administration. Burr’s remarks serve as a reminder of the ongoing conflict between citizens seeking effective governance and a Democratic leadership that many feel is laden with mismanagement and corruption.
Comedian Bill Burr says he thinks California leadership did a great job preventing and fighting the LA fires, says people who think otherwise are "f*cking lunatics."

Barr seems to be intentionally missing the point. No one christisd the firefighters. God knows, they have been magnificent. It the politicians who sank money into their own interests instead of planning ahead. Cali is all dry grass and dry heat- fires will happen. There should have been plans set in place.
