‘It Should Not Happen In The USA!’: Hawley Snaps On Mayorkas Over Child Slavery Report

Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri expressed his disappointment and outrage on Wednesday when he spoke before the House Homeland Security Committee about the increasing number of migrant children being exploited for cheap labor in the United States. The real reason Dems are rushing migrants through.

The New York Times has conducted extensive reporting on the topic, detailing the stories of kids as young as 13 who are forced to work in factories while being denied fair wages, proper meals, and schooling.

At a previous hearing, Senator Hawley had asked Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas why this was allowed to happen, and was unsatisfied with the answer of “it’s not my problem.” He then went on to say that although tens of thousands of children have been sold into slavery in the United States, nobody seems to want to take responsibility for it.

This comment was followed by praise for the New York Times’s reporting which touched on the story of Carolina Yoc of Guatemala. She was 15 years old when she was forced to work in a Cheerios factory and described her constant stomach pain and exhaustion due to the demanding work hours and stress.

Former Border Chief Rodney Scott further noted during the Wednesday hearing that under the Biden administration the number of children being exploited has grown. To this, Hawley stated that the idea of just “wishing children the best” is not an acceptable answer and that someone needs to be held accountable for these heinous crimes.

Senator Hawley concluded his statement by strongly declaring that such atrocities should never be allowed to happen in the United States of America. He is adamant that the government needs to take action and investigate those responsible for allowing child slavery to prosper in our country.
