Lone Holdout Juror Denies Doubts, Says Lindsay Clancy Knew and Planned the Killings
The Lindsay Clancy murder trial ended in a mistrial after one juror refused to join the other 11 in a move toward acquittal.
Michael Desronvil, the lone holdout juror, is now pushing back on claims that he had doubts about his decision. In a statement released to NewsNation on Thursday, Desronvil said he never wavered. He said his attempts to discuss possible theories during deliberations were mistaken for uncertainty about the evidence.
“I didn’t have any doubts. As I tried to explain different possible theories during deliberation, I kept getting cut off as if I had doubts based on the evidence present,” Desronvil said in a statement to News Nation.
The trial centered on the deaths of Lindsay Clancy’s three young children in January 2023. According to the report, Clancy sent her husband, Patrick Clancy, out of the house to run errands before fatally strangling the children.
The prosecution argued that Clancy should face a charge of premeditated murder. Prosecutors said she planned the killings and understood that what she was doing was wrong at the time. The report also states that Clancy was never diagnosed with postpartum psychosis.
Eleven jurors were reportedly ready to acquit Clancy. Desronvil did not agree with them. The resulting deadlock led Judge Sullivan to declare a mistrial earlier this month.
Desronvil had already drawn attention earlier in the week after remarks to Life Site News. He said eight jurors acted like “activists.” The report describes Desronvil as a devout Christian and the son of a Haitian immigrant.
His latest statement gives a direct explanation for why he rejected the other jurors’ position. Desronvil said the physical evidence, key witnesses, and the prosecution’s presentation were enough to convince him that Clancy knew exactly what she was doing and had planned it.
“Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses, and what the prosecution presents, I thought it was enough proof that she [Clancy] knew exactly what she was doing and planned,” he said.
The report says Desronvil was doxxed after NBC Boston spearheaded what it describes as a harassment campaign against him. It also reports that he has lawyered up.
For now, the jury’s disagreement remains unresolved. Desronvil’s statement rejects the suggestion that he was unsure of his position and instead presents his decision as a conclusion based on the evidence he heard during the trial.
