Megyn Kelly on her SiriusXM radio show “The Megyn Kelly Show” criticized CBS News on Thursday for whitewashing the editing of Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview on “60 Minutes.”
In the interview, Harris was questioned about her shifting positions on left-wing policies and the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, but her campaign had announced the appearance on the show following backlash. However, Kelly pointed out that there was a clear difference between the version of the interview shown on X compared to the full version released on YouTube.
“What we should have been more attentive to is what ‘60 Minutes’ had done to that interview,” Kelly stated. “They put out a quick Q&A about whether or not Netanyahu is listening to us, and in their tease on Sunday and Monday, they included part of Harris’ incoherent answer. No one at ‘60 Minutes’ realized that this would make her look bad, because they don’t see her answers as confusing. They’re liberals who think, ‘Look at our girl, she’s giving tough answers!’”
Kelly went on to explain her theory as to what happened behind-the-scenes at CBS. She suggested that the network had released the initial clipped version of Harris’ response without realizing the backlash it would receive. Then, when the full interview aired on Monday night, there was a significantly different version of Harris’ answer.
“They had cleaned up the answer. They had pulled a much shorter, tighter but still inane phrase from a different part of her answer and they whitewashed the word salad and sort of got rid of all the word salad and boiled it down to like one green pepper,” Kelly said. “It was no longer a salad, it was just one green pepper that you could understand and eat easily.”
Kelly then played the two versions side by side, pointing out that the edited version on YouTube presented a “cleaner” and more coherent response from Harris. In the X version, Harris can be heard stumbling through her answer and giving a convoluted response, while in the YouTube version, she clearly states, “We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”
“This is CBS running cover for Kamala Harris,” Kelly asserted. “It’s so nakedly partisan and desperate to save her. I’m amazed they had the guts to do it.”
Harris’ campaign has since responded to the controversy, saying that they do not have control over CBS’ production decisions and referring questions to the network. However, Kelly believes that this was a clear attempt by CBS to manipulate the public’s perception of Harris and make her look better.
Kelly strongly criticized CBS News for their blatant bias and whitewashing of Kamala Harris’ interview on “60 Minutes.” She believes that this is just another example of the liberal media’s attempt to protect and promote Harris, despite her confusing and incoherent responses.
Kelly calls out the network for their “nakedly partisan and desperate” behavior and brings attention to the clear editing tactics used to present Harris in a more favorable light.
