MTG threatens to oust Speaker Mike Johnson in bold move Following Surrender to Dems

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a vocal and controversial figure from Georgia, renewed her attacks on House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday, accusing him of serving the Democrats and President Joe Biden instead of his fellow Republicans. Greene first filed a motion to remove Johnson from power in late March, and in a scathing letter to her fellow GOP members, she outlined why she believes Johnson should be replaced.

Greene accused Johnson of “throwing” their razor-thin majority into chaos and not representing the GOP conference that elected him. She believes Johnson is aligned with the Democrats’ agenda and has failed to prioritize Republican values, which has angered the party’s base and given them little reason to vote for a Republican majority in the future.

In particular, Greene took issue with Johnson’s intention to bring a bill for aid to Ukraine to the House floor. She believes this is evidence that Johnson is executing the Democrats’ agenda and not standing up for Republican priorities.

In her memo, Greene also criticized Johnson for his actions since becoming speaker in October. She accused him of abandoning Republican priorities and aligning with the Democrats in an effort to “get along” with them. She believes this approach is detrimental to the Republican Party and will ultimately lead to its self-destruction.

One of the main issues Greene had with Johnson is his decision not to cut funding for Department of Justice Special Prosecutor Jack Smith, who is overseeing charges against former President Donald Trump. She believes these prosecutions are a “death sentence” for Trump and that Johnson had the power to stop them by cutting funding, but he chose not to do so.

Greene also took issue with Johnson’s recent emphasis on fully funding abortion, the trans agenda, addressing climate change, and Biden’s border policies. She views these issues as against Republican values and believes Johnson should be prioritizing issues like securing the border and opposing foreign wars.

During a recent town hall in Georgia, Greene defended her confrontational approach and stated that anyone in a leadership position should be prepared to “battle” for what is right and to hold others accountable. She believes the current Republican House majority has failed to do this, and she is determined to take action.

In her closing remarks, Greene expressed her frustration with the lack of leadership from the GOP and her disappointment with the direction of the party. She believes it is time for a change and hopes that her fellow Republicans will join her in removing Johnson from his position as House Speaker.
