During Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate, Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance found himself at odds with the moderators from CBS as he attempted to fact-check their claims about illegal immigration and the impact it has on Americans. The tension rose when Vance brought up the issue of Haitian migrants that had been flooding into Springfield, Ohio, over the past three years.
CBS moderator Margaret Brennan questioned the candidates on this issue and Vance expressed his concern over the impact of these migrants on American citizens. He specifically cited the influx of up to 20,000 Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio and the toll it has taken on the local community. However, after Vance made his statement, Brennan quickly interjected, stating that these migrants actually had “legal status.”
Vance, not backing down from his stance, interrupted Brennan and challenged the network’s rule against fact-checking. He argued that the migrants entered the country through asylum applications, which ultimately grants them legal status. This led to a back-and-forth between Vance and Brennan, with her trying to move the conversation along and Vance attempting to finish his point.
But before Vance could fully challenge the misinformation being spread, his microphone was cut off by the moderators. This move was met with outrage from Vance, who questioned the fairness of the debate and accused the moderators of only fact-checking him.
Brennan then attempted to move onto a different topic, but not before Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan chimed in to defend the Biden administration’s handling of the CBP One app. However, Vance pushed back against this, stating that the app was created under the Biden administration and it has only made the illegal immigration crisis worse.
Despite this, the moderators continued to cut off Vance’s mic, preventing him from fully discussing the issue at hand. This blatant censorship and biased handling of the debate only highlights the liberal media’s attempt to control the narrative and silence opposing viewpoints.
It’s important to note that the CBP One app, which has been in use since 2020 and was expanded by the Biden administration in January 2021, allows migrants to schedule appointments to obtain exemptions at ports of entry and apply for parole. This app specifically targets migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, and has only contributed to the overwhelming influx of illegal immigration.
The fact that the moderators were quick to shut down Vance’s valid points and prevent him from fully explaining the situation only shows the media’s biased approach to immigration. It’s clear that the liberal media will do whatever it takes to protect the Biden administration and their agenda, even if it means silencing opposition and controlling the narrative.
The liberal media’s handling of the vice presidential debate only further highlights their bias and their attempt to control the narrative. By cutting off Vance’s mic and preventing him from fully discussing the issue at hand, they have shown their true colors and their attempt to protect the Biden administration from criticism. It’s time for the media to start reporting the facts, rather than silencing those who dare to speak out against their agenda.
