As President Donald Trump enters his second term, it is important to reacquaint ourselves with the media affliction known as Trump Derangement Syndrome. One of its classic symptoms is the urge to blame everything on Trump, and this symptom was on clear display as the legacy media reported on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s decision to step down from his post.
However, not all networks succumbed to this syndrome. ABC reported Trudeau’s resignation briefly, without any mention of Trump:
“North of the border in Canada tonight, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation after nine years as prime minister.”
On the other hand, NBC and CBS went full TDS, blaming Trump for Trudeau’s resignation in their reports.
NBC’s Andrea Mitchell all but blames Trump for ending Trudeau in her report, saying “A final blow, tension with President-Elect Trump, who threatened Canada with 25% tariffs.” Meanwhile, CBS’s Elizabeth Palmer also points to Trump’s tariff threats as a contributing factor to Trudeau’s downfall.
However, the fact is that Trudeau’s exit as Prime Minister had been brewing for a while now, even before the U.S. presidential election. Moreover, the event that shattered Trudeau’s coalition had been in the works for some time. The media’s insistence on framing Trump as the sole cause of Trudeau’s resignation ignores the underlying issues that led to this decision.
Furthermore, the media’s eagerness to inject narrative into a story rather than report the facts as they appear is a clear indication of their deep-seated Trump Derangement Syndrome. Despite the evidence showing otherwise, they continue to blame everything on Trump, even when he is not the primary cause.
It’s time for the media to stop their biased reporting and focus on the facts. The media’s constant demonization of Trump only serves to undermine their credibility and discredit their reporting.
As we enter into a new term of Trump’s presidency, it is more important than ever for the media to regain their objectivity and report the truth, rather than pushing their own biased agendas. (Never gonna happen)
