Parents have the right to protect their children, and it’s concerning that the New Hampshire state legislature is considering a bill that would take away crucial parental rights. Senate Bill (SB) 272, the Parental Bill of Rights in Education, would give parents the right to know if their children have changed their gender identity or pronouns at school.
Unfortunately, the left is pushing a dangerous and misguided narrative on children and teens, encouraging them to transition genders and undergo hormone therapy and surgery. Katie Lennon, a self-described detransitioner, recently shared her story of overcoming gender ideology during a New Hampshire hearing discussing the bill. Lennon, who underwent a gender transition earlier in life, now regrets it and is urging the state legislature to pass SB 272.
Lennon shared that she had asked everyone in her life to call her by a new name and use male pronouns to refer to her. Everyone in her life either immediately affirmed her new identity, either out of full support for it, or just to stay neutral and not cause any issues. This constant affirmation, both active and passive, solidified her in her transgender identity.
Unfortunately, this story isn’t uncommon. With the constant affirmation and lack of pushback, Lennon’s journey escalated from her social transition to testosterone and a double mastectomy. She eventually had a full hysterectomy which involved the removal of her uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes and both ovaries.
The dangers of gender transition treatments are real and irreparable. Lennon argues that parents should have the right to know if their children are identifying with a community that has a high risk of mental health issues and suicide. Denying them this information would prevent them from being able to protect their children.
“I thought that in the end I could become a man but all I became was a mutilated and abused version of myself”

We must be vigilant in protecting our children from the dangers of gender transition treatments. SB 272 is a step in the right direction. The bill did pass but with zero support from Democrats.
