New Polls Show Trump’s ‘Key Issue’ Slipping Away to Harris, What Changed?

CNN’s senior data reporter Harry Enten has raised the alarm on Vice President Kamala Harris gaining ground against former President Donald Trump on the key issue of the economy. According to Enten, recent polling shows Harris inching closer to Trump’s lead on economic issues, which is concerning for the former president as it has been a key focus of his campaign.

“Fresh poll numbers from the Financial Times and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business show a worrying trend for the Trump campaign. While back in July, Trump held a six-point lead over Harris on the economy, recent polls show a neck-and-neck race with Harris at 42% and Trump at 41%,” Enten revealed on CNN Newsroom With Jim Acosta.

Enten emphasized that this is not just a one-off poll result, but a trend seen across multiple polls, which is cause for concern. He also highlighted how this trend is reflected in key swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, where Trump’s lead on economic issues has shrunk from 14 points to just six points.

But the most worrying factor for the Trump campaign, according to Enten, is Harris’ lead over Trump on whatever issue is the most important to voters. “In June, Trump held a ten-point lead over Joe Biden on the issue that was most important to Americans. But now, in key battleground states, Harris has a two-point lead over Trump. This kind of movement is not just limited to overall issues, it’s happening under the hood as well,” Enten explained.

Pollster Frank Luntz also chimed in on the matter, pointing out that while Trump’s lead over Harris on two important issues, the economy and immigration, may help him electorally, his “angry” communication style could cost him the race. Luntz emphasized the importance of the upcoming debates where Harris and Trump will stand side by side and present their contrasting points of view.

Despite these concerning trends, Luntz believes that Trump still has a good chance of winning due to his strong stance on the major issues. “But he must rein in his anger and reflect the people he’s trying to reach, or else he may lose the advantage he currently holds,” Luntz warned.

This latest development in the polls should serve as a wake-up call for the Trump campaign. While Harris may be gaining ground on the economy, it should not be forgotten that Trump still holds a strong advantage on this crucial issue. With his proven track record of creating jobs and boosting the economy, Trump remains the candidate best equipped to handle the economic challenges facing the country.

On the other hand, Harris’ policies, such as her support for Green New Deal and her call for tax increases, could be damaging to the economy. Her lack of experience and questionable track record on economic issues further undermine her credibility on the matter.

While the narrowing gap in the polls may cause concern for the Trump campaign, it is important to remember that he still holds a strong advantage on the key issue of the economy. With the upcoming debates and the opportunity to showcase his achievements and plans for the future, Trump has a good chance of solidifying his lead on this crucial issue and winning the trust of American voters once again. On the other hand, Harris’ lack of experience and questionable policies make her a risky choice for the economy and the future of the country.

I think we can all agree that these polls are usually shit. Just look at the 2022 midterms. Where was that “red wave” the polls were predicting. Even still, I hope voters don’t get too comfortable come election time, Just because Trump is the smart choice, doesn’t mean voters should relax.
