Katherine Maher, the CEO of National Public Radio (NPR), recently appeared on PBS to defend her organization’s blatant left-wing bias while absurdly claiming that NPR is a “non-partisan news organization.” In the interview, Maher whined about President Trump’s executive order to defund NPR, framing it as an attack on the First Amendment rather than what it truly is—a long-overdue move to stop forcing taxpayers to subsidize a propaganda arm of the Democratic Party.
Maher’s desperate attempt to paint NPR as some neutral, fair-minded news outlet is nothing short of delusional. She claimed, “We’re a non-partisan news organization. We seek to be able to provide a range of different viewpoints in terms of who we bring on air, the stories that we tell.” But anyone who has listened to NPR for more than five minutes knows this is a blatant lie. NPR has a long, well-documented history of pushing progressive narratives while suppressing conservative voices and stories that don’t fit their agenda. Remember how NPR refused to cover the Hunter Biden laptop scandal before the 2020 election? That alone proves their so-called “impartiality” is a sham.
Maher also had the audacity to accuse President Trump of “viewpoint discrimination,” stating, “It is a textbook example of viewpoint discrimination from a First Amendment standpoint… Essentially, by blocking funding to NPR and PBS, it is a form of retaliation against our organizations for airing editorial programming that the president might disagree with.” This is rich coming from an organization that routinely silences conservative perspectives. The real discrimination is NPR’s own refusal to provide balanced coverage—yet they cry foul when called out for their bias.
For years, NPR and its defenders have claimed that federal funding makes up only a tiny fraction of their budget. If that’s true, why are they in such a panic over losing it? Shouldn’t their army of wealthy liberal donors easily fill the gap? The truth is, NPR relies on taxpayer dollars to sustain its left-wing echo chamber, and President Trump is right to cut them off. If liberals want to fund NPR, let them do it themselves—hardworking Americans shouldn’t be forced to bankroll a media outlet that consistently undermines their values.

President Trump’s decision to defund NPR isn’t about stifling free speech—it’s about ending the unfair subsidization of a blatantly partisan organization. The liberal media, including NPR, has spent years smearing Trump and his supporters while ignoring or downplaying scandals that damage Democrats. Enough is enough. It’s time to hold these so-called “neutral” outlets accountable for their bias.
