In an outrageous case that is becoming all too familiar in Miami-Dade County, a woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to pass off fake bills to Walmart’s customer service staff. Zipporah Abraham, 38, was apprehended after allegedly trying to use counterfeit bills to purchase items in the store.
According to WPLG Local 10 News, Abraham was recognized by the store’s loss prevention officers after she had allegedly hidden items worth $865 in a storage bin at the Walmart location.
Before being taken into custody, Abraham reportedly tried to consume the fake bills. A police officer alerted the store’s loss prevention officers who called the police. She now faces charges of third-degree grand theft and uttering forged bills and is being held on a $5000 bond for each charge.
It is appalling that criminals such as Abraham have no qualms about trying to steal from the public. Such deplorable behavior creates an economic hardship for everyday people and is what drives prices up for everyone else.
“She had reportedly been repeatedly arrested on suspicion of theft before and the loss prevention officers recognized her in surveillance footage,” said a Local 10 report. “Just before a police officer took her into custody, Abraham allegedly shoved about $200 of the fake bills into her mouth, the report noted.”

It is equally as appalling that authorities had encountered Abraham in the past and recognized her as a repeat offender. We can only hope that justice is served in this case and that she receives her appropriate punishment.
I’m not sure what she was thinking.
This whole thing just proves that criminals are rarely the brightest bulb in the box. Her previous record with the store should have been enough to make her think twice. Then, once caught, rather than face the consequences she decided to eat the fake money.
That’s just ridiculous…
