Democratic presidential challenger Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accused President Joe Biden of living in a “bubble” and only speaking with his donors, rather than the American people. Kennedy is currently trailing Biden by 53% in the Real Clear Politics average of polls. He filed paperwork with the FEC on April 5 to run against Biden for the Democratic nomination in the 2024 election.
“The president should be out talking to the American people. Americans are hurting like they have never been before. It is important for our political leadership to have a dialogue and have engagement,” Kennedy stated in an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters. He also mentioned that Biden has “strong character”, despite the controversial handling of the wildfire on Maui, commenting that, “If he feels that he is up to that, then he should debate me.”
These questions regarding Biden’s age and health were raised after a series of incidents including, but not limited to, an awkward mumble during his July 18 meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and a near-fall on Air Force One on May 19. In response, Biden has implemented a different set of stairs onto the VC-25, otherwise known as Air Force One.
Biden’s approval rating regarding the economy is set at 38%, with a 58.6% disapproval rate, while his handling of inflation has a 33.2% approval versus a 62.8% disapproval rate. President Biden has yet to respond to the remarks from Kennedy, or to discuss any debates between them.
“I don’t think it’s good for the American people and I don’t think it’s good for the Democratic Party if the only people he has to talk to win this election are his donors,” Kennedy commented. This statement and the questions surrounding Biden’s age and health have caused an uproar among Democrats, and will most likely continue to be a topic of conversation as the election nears. Kennedy concluded by saying “It is important for our political leadership to have a dialogue and have engagement. Not just me, but with the public.”
I get what Watters and Kennedy are saying about not ‘seeing’ Biden since he entered the White House but to me, this is the same schmo Biden has always been. I little older but none the wiser. Regardless, without the support of his fellow Democrats, Biden is doomed—As he should be.
It’ll be a great day when Biden gets the heck out of office. I don’t think anyone would dispute that fact.
