Russian Victim Flees U.S. After Brutal Mob Attack- Third Suspect In Custody

A third suspect, Jermaine Matthews, 39, has been arrested in connection with the brutal mob attack on a white man and a Russian woman in downtown Cincinnati, an incident that has drawn national outrage after graphic videos surfaced online. Matthews turned himself in Tuesday evening and was arraigned Wednesday alongside two other suspects—Montianez Merriweather, 34, and DeKyra Vernon, 24—all facing charges including felony assault and aggravated rioting.

The attack, which occurred during the early hours of Saturday, July 27, was captured on video and shows a coordinated assault by a mob. Prosecutors allege that Merriweather and Matthews conspired in the ambush, with Merriweather whispering instructions before the attack. A Cincinnati police detective described the scene as a “set up,” stating, “Ultimately, we do have on video Mr. Merriweather walking up to co-defendant. He whispers something to him then walks back behind the victim.” The victims were chased, knocked to the ground, and repeatedly punched and kicked.

Liberal Media Silent on Racial Dynamics

While the facts of the case point to a racially motivated attack—with a white man and a Russian woman as victims—the liberal media has been reluctant to frame it as such. Instead, outlets have downplayed the racial element, focusing instead on the suspects’ claims of provocation. Desiray Merriweather, cousin of Montianez Merriweather, attempted to shift blame outside the courtroom, stating, “I question whether there would’ve been such a strong nationwide response if the victims had been Black.”

This narrative ignores the disturbing reality: a defenseless woman, later revealed to be Russian, was sucker-punched by DeKyra Vernon while trying to help another victim. The detective testified, “The woman that was injured and knocked out, she was trying to turn her aid to another victim at the time… And while she’s rendering aid to that gentleman there, that’s when Ms. Vernon comes up and strikes her in the face. This, for no reason at all.”

Where’s the Outrage?

Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, law and order were prioritized, and violent crimes were met with swift justice. Yet, in today’s America, where leftist prosecutors and a complicit media often excuse mob violence, these attacks are swept under the rug. The Russian victim, who flew home the day after the assault, is just one example of how unchecked urban violence drives people away.

The suspects’ families claim the altercation was mutual, but the video evidence tells a different story—one of a targeted, unprovoked attack. The detective emphasized Vernon’s role, stating, “She just interjected herself into a brawl on the street.” This was not self-defense; it was brutality.

Trump’s America Would Not Tolerate This Lawlessness

President Trump has long warned about the dangers of rising urban violence and the need for strong policing. Unlike the current administration, which has allowed chaos to fester in cities, Trump’s policies ensured that criminals faced consequences. The Cincinnati attack is yet another example of what happens when law enforcement is undermined by progressive rhetoric.
