Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana launched a blistering attack on President Joe Biden on Tuesday after he announced an executive order aimed at securing the country’s border with Mexico. Kennedy claimed that this order was a ploy to boost Biden’s flagging poll numbers and paint him as a strong leader in the months leading up to the 2024 election.
“President Biden is in political trouble,” Kennedy declared. “He’s polling about as well as fungal infections at this point.” He went on to accuse Biden of caving to the demands of the “loon-wing” of his party and creating a crisis at the southern border. Kennedy pointed out that this was a problem that could have been avoided, had Biden not signaled to the world that the border was open for illegal immigration before he even took office.
“Now, five months before an election, he’s trying to appear tough on border security,” Kennedy stated. “But it’s a little too late for that, isn’t it, Mr. President?” He criticized Biden for mismanaging Congress, the pandemic, the economy, and various international issues such as Afghanistan, Iran, and Ukraine. Kennedy also highlighted the ongoing border crisis as just one of the many problems that have arisen under Biden’s failed leadership.
“It’s a little late for a ‘realization’ now,” Kennedy continued. “After millions of illegal immigrants have flooded across our border, overwhelming our resources and causing harm to American citizens.” He referred to the tragic death of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who was killed by an illegal immigrant, as just one example of the consequences of Biden’s open border policies.
Kennedy also pointed out that the damage has already been done and cannot be undone, with an estimated 8 million encounters with illegal immigrants since Biden took office and an additional 1.7 million living in communities across the country. He accused the president of putting his own political interests above the safety and well-being of American citizens. “Biden’s Justice Department and radical district attorneys in states like Georgia and New York are more interested in pursuing baseless charges against President Trump than actually addressing the very real crisis at our border,” Kennedy stated.
The senator questioned the legitimacy of Biden’s sudden change of heart on the border issue, wondering, “What did the White House’s internal polling look like before this executive order?” He suggested that it must have been “lower than fungal infections” and on par with other minor irritations like stubbed toes and Louisiana humidity.

Kennedy slammed Biden for pretending to clean up a mess that he created through his own incompetence and political gamesmanship. “This executive order is nothing more than a desperate attempt to save face and salvage fading poll numbers,” he concluded. “But it’s too little, too late for the American people who have already suffered the consequences of Biden’s failed leadership.” Voters can only hope that this executive order is not just another empty promise from a president who has consistently put his own interests above those of the American people.
