‘She’s Dead Wrong’: Chris Cuomo Fact-Checks AOC Over Israeli Pager Attack

During a recent segment on his show, NewsNation host Chris Cuomo took a stand against Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York for her comments on social media about Israel’s use of exploding pagers to target Hezbollah terrorists. Cuomo, who had previously engaged in a social media feud with Ocasio-Cortez over her criticism of the Israeli operation, fact-checked her claims on air and called them “dead wrong.”

Cuomo began by addressing Ocasio-Cortez’s accusation that Israel committed a war crime with their actions in Beirut. He pointed out that she had called for an investigation into the incident before even knowing the facts, and that she had also suggested that the US should not support Israel. Cuomo made it clear that Israel is not subject to US laws and that the idea of cutting off support for them based on Ocasio-Cortez’s accusation is absurd.

Next, Cuomo highlighted a crucial piece of information that Ocasio-Cortez conveniently left out in her post – the Department of Defense manual on the law of war.

He read from the manual, which stated that the use of mines and booby traps must adhere to the same rules and principles as any other weapon, including the prohibition against indiscriminate use. Cuomo emphasized the word “indiscriminate,” explaining that this means all necessary precautions must be taken to protect civilians, but noted that there are exceptions, such as improvising a booby trap to stop a group of attacking terrorists.

Cuomo also called out Ocasio-Cortez for not speaking out against threats made against her Republican colleague, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, or the numerous assassination attempts against former President Donald Trump. He pointed out the hypocrisy of Ocasio-Cortez valuing her own safety and well-being, but not extending the same courtesy to her opponents.

Cuomo urged Ocasio-Cortez to be more thorough and fair in her statements, rather than intentionally pushing a biased agenda. He also criticized her for not speaking out against threats and violence aimed at her political opponents, questioning her lack of empathy and regard for those who hold opposing views.

Cuomo’s fact-checking and condemnation of Ocasio-Cortez’s statements demonstrate his support for former President Trump, who has consistently stood with Israel and condemned terrorism.

WATCH

While Ocasio-Cortez may not agree with the decisions made by Trump or the state of Israel, it is important to approach these issues with an open mind and a commitment to the truth, rather than baseless accusations and skewed viewpoints. Cuomo’s segment serves as a reminder to always fact-check and consider all perspectives before jumping to conclusions or making unfounded claims.
