Trump Says Nearly 1 Million Americans in 30 States Will Get $500 Obamacare Refunds

Jim Hoft says President Trump sent him a letter on Monday. Hoft describes the message as a surprise and says Trump told him he was sending him some money. The letter also focused on the administration’s health-care record since Trump returned to the White House.

In the letter, Trump wrote:

I have fought for lower Healthcare Costs, increase(d) Accountability, and Put Patients First. Through TrumpRX, we are delivering massive discounts on Household Prescription Drugs, and my Most-Favored-Nation Pricing Agreements have already saved Americans more than 1 Billion Dollars on much-needed Medications. We also secured an unprecedented 50 Billion Dollar investment to transform Rural Healthcare, expanded access to Health Savings Accounts for millions of people on Obamacare , and restored Price Transparency, all while rooting out the Waste, Fraud, and Abuse across our Healthcare System.

The passage highlights the policies Trump says are aimed at cutting costs and improving accountability. It points to prescription-drug discounts, most-favored-nation pricing, rural health care, health savings accounts, and price transparency. The dollar figures and savings claims are presented in the letter itself.

Hoft then connects the letter to a broader announcement involving Americans who purchased coverage through the Obamacare exchange and Healthcare.gov. According to the report, the Trump administration found that millions of working Americans had been overcharged under the Biden administration. The initiative is described as the “Working Families Obamacare Refunds” program.

According to the article, nearly one million Americans in 30 states are expected to receive a $500 check sent to their home address. The report says the excessive fees totaled at least $500 million. Trump’s statement described the payments as money being returned to people who were wrongly overcharged. The rebates are expected to go out in just a few weeks.

WATCH: President Trump said:

Today, I’m very thrilled to make an important announcement on the cost of health care affecting hardworking families all across the United States. Our administration has discovered that under Sleepy Joe Biden, American households buying health insurance through the Obamacare exchange, which is a disaster, and the healthcare.gov were massively overcharged, to put it mildly. They were forced to pay excessive fees, totaling at least $500 million. The last administration knew about this and they studied it, but they kept the money. They just kept it. They never let anyone know. Our administration is doing the right thing and giving the money back to the people who were wrongly ripped off. Nearly one million hardworking Americans in 30 states will soon be getting refunds of $500 each with a check sent to their home address. In many cases, these refunds will cover the entire spike in your insurance caused by Democrats, who solely work to protect big insurance companies. The big insurance companies own the Democrats. Congress must now quickly pass the Great Health Care Plan. It’s called the Great Health Care Plan. Cost of healthcare for all Americans is coming down under my plan. We will stop all payments to big insurance and give the money directly to the people, who will then be able to buy better health care at a much lower cost and keep the money and keep the difference. We’ll have maximum price transparency and require all prices to be posted in plain, beautiful English, and we will get insurance companies to disclose their profits and how many claims they deny, so that we know the good ones from the bad. But the relief begins with refunding everyone who was overcharged. The rebates are going out in just a few weeks. Thank you very much.

The video ties the refunds to a broader health-care agenda focused on price transparency, lower costs, and forcing insurance companies to disclose profits and claim-denial numbers. Trump also called on Congress to pass what he called the Great Health Care Plan.

The Gateway Pundit report says the Trump White House posted more information about the rebate program on its website. The central promise described in the article is direct: nearly one million Americans across 30 states are slated to receive $500 refunds after the administration said they were overcharged through the Obamacare exchange.
